From an institutional and organisational standpoint, the University of Cagliari is divided into four areas: Academic Bodies, Operational Divisions, Staff Units, and other bodies.

The organisational structure includes the Rector, the Prorectors and delegates, the Academic Senate, and the Board of Directors as governing bodies.

Rector
It’s the legal and institutional representative of the University. The 62nd rector is Professor Francesco Mola, elected in 2021.

Vice Rectors and Delegates
Vice Rectors and delegates are appointed by the Rector among the tenured professors, each with specific competences.
