The University of Cagliari is at the forefront of the fight against climate change.

In 2022, the University of Cagliari participated in the 'Mapping Universities on Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG)' survey, initiated by the RUS Working Group on Climate Change. The survey, carried out at Italian universities, follows two important initiatives: the calculation of CO2 emissions, launched in 2021, and the first drafting of the University's GHG emissions inventory.

Among the actions aimed at improving the University's level of sustainability is the focus on green spaces, both for the effects produced by tree vegetation in terms of limiting CO2 emissions and for the positive effects on the liveability of spaces and the creation of a healthier and more inclusive study and work environment.
