The Rector is the legal representative of the University: it carries out functions of direction, initiative, and coordination of teaching and scientific activities, in collaboration with the other governing bodies.
It is also responsible for pursuing the institutional goals of the University according to quality criteria and in compliance with the principles of effectiveness, efficiency, transparency and promotion of merit.
The Rector is elected among the full professors in service at the Italian Universities; its (not renewable) term of office is six years.
