University Sports Committee

The University Sports Committee (CUS) is the body that coordinates sports activities for the benefit of the university community. 

The Committee:

  • defines the general rules for the conduct of sports activities, both amateur and competitive, in both individual and associated forms; 
  • expresses opinions and proposes the stipulation of agreements for the management of university sports services, and facilities and monitors their implementation;
  • defines the management guidelines for sports services, facilities and activities and the related expenditure plans, ensuring the usability of the services, facilities, and equipment, also by those who do not engage in competitive activities 
  • proposes sports building interventions and programmes to the Board of Directors; 
  • draws up an annual report on its activities and submits it to the Board of Directors.

As of 1 October 2022, the University Sports Committee (USC) for the years 2022/2024 is composed as follows:

10 competitive sports sections, around 1,000 registered athletes, more than 4,000 students with a USC Card: this is CUS Cagliari, University Sports Centre of the University of Cagliari.

In the Sports Citadel 'Sa Duchessa', in via Is Mirrionis 3, students, athletes and all CUS Card holders can find a six-lane athletics track, an 11-a-side football pitch, a 5-a-side football pitch, a 7-a-side football pitch, the PalaUSC (a sports hall with two multi-purpose gyms), a tensile structure for volleyball and tennis, a fencing hall, four tennis courts, a playground for basketball and two body building rooms. The centre is completed by the social headquarters with its offices and conference hall, the 'CasaUSC' refreshment point and the 'StudioUSC' study room.

The other two locations of USC Cagliari are the Polo Sportivo Monserrato, inside the Cittadella Universitari,a and the Polo Nautico in Via Calafati in Cagliari.

Opening hours

- Facilities: the "Sa Duchessa" Sports Citadel is open daily from 07.00 to 23.00
- Student secretarial offices: Tuesday and Thursday from 09.30 to 12.30; Monday to Friday from 15.30 to 19.30

The opening hours of the tensile structure in Monserrato are the same as those of Sa Duchessa, but reservations are required.

The nautical venue is open for activity organised by USC.
